Art at Springfield is varied and fun. It runs through our thematic work and also has sessions aimed at improving skill levels. We use a wide range of mediums – such as paint, pencil, charcoal, inks and chalks and work in both 2D and 3D.

Our totem pole

We enjoy celebrating our artistic abilities and our art work is often seen at “Congratulations” assemblies.

We have been fortunate enough to have been awarded a Big Lottery grant for art and we spent the monies on a range of professional artists who worked with children across the whole school, creating murals, totem poles, wall art, our steel tree in the reception office area, big outdoor art, an art trip to a local gallery and paying for an art club amongst many other things.

Mosaic murals

Other plans include a whole school mixed age set of clay workshops with a potter, creating artefacts to “live” in our grounds and forest school areas. Watch this space!
